Like this ‘03 with 67,000 miles on it. For $27,000. To be fair, it does have a lot of other goodies on it though, including EFI live and all that good must-have diesel shit. Love the wheel and tire combo though.

Sure it’s clean and low miles but everything is still 25 years old. 25 year old bushings, seals, etc. Those can be addressed easily but not when paying a premium. However I would offer $17k to their $27k asking. They’ll laugh, I’ll laugh, I’ll leave.

Have you seen the prices for the Cummins’s’’s’s’s’s’? Older with way more miles for the same price as this Chevy. These year Chevy’s are popular because they have minimal emissions equipment.

The problem with modded diesel pickups is that dudebros charge ridiculous prices for what amounts to very basic/entry level mods at the engine level combined with stupid appearance changes.
A truck is meant for work, don’t bling it out.

It’s an LB7. That means when the fuel injectors go (and they will), valve covers have to come off.
And since I’m not a fan of modifying trucks (as it generally makes them worse for towing and actual use), this is probably at $14K unless they have documented all 8 injectors having been recently replaced with new common rail to injector lines. Then it’s maybe $16K.

True up until MY2006. The GMT800 trucks that are most desirable are the 2006 LBZ trucks (6 speed Allison 1000, no emissions equipment, most of the kinks worked out)
LLY trucks if you aren’t going to tune them or modify them. They can run hot, but you either have a hot LLY or you don’t. I’ve seen guys use the LBZ radiator to help keep an LLY cool.

Thats good to know. I’m diesel truck shopping , primarily been looking at Ford’s so head studding and such, but good to know about the LB7 and injectors. May have saved me some headaches and a lot of money!

In five years, GM had done three revisions of the Duramax. Those are the Regular Production Option codes that are on the glove box sticker.

And to think I bought my 2005 Duramax (where the injectors are outside the valve covers, LLY engine) for $8500 or so.
Two sets of injectors on an LB7 engine and you could have bought my truck.

His truck is has toolboxes on the back and getting another truck was probably too much headache. One of the sets he did himself, but I think the injectors themselves were on the order of $400 apiece.

Yeah, also the oil cooler/EGR cooler setup on the Navistar 6.0L engine...
That 6.0 and the later 6.4 caused Ford to drop Navistar as an engine supplier, and build the 6.7L turbodiesel in house.
